Locked Southern Railway Steam Slides

I do not expect there are many color slides of Southern steam available. The SRHA archives include quite a few but there were only a few photographers shooting ASA 10 Kodachrome in the late steam era. AGFA and whatever else was available at that time has color shifted so badly by now it’s probably nearly useless. (The archives has some of that as well.)

Many of our color slides of steam are from David Driscoll, in Reidsville, NC in the late 40s. In addition to steam, David photographed diesels as they were introduced. His family owned a furniture store facing the SR main line. We are fortunate to have his collection. All of the photos in the archives, and everything scanned (3,250 steam, 7,738 diesels), can be researched/viewed at the archives. Ike PS Your photo of 5026 is from the dead line at Asheville at the icing platform, later the pig ramp (track spacing did not need to be changed.) The attached photo of 5026 was after its next move, to the scrap line at Hayne. I’m particularly interested in steam slides. There aren’t many to be found on eBay as I’ve seen. I’ve added a photo I have of a Ss-1 as an example of what kind of photos I’m looking for.
