Locked Catawba River Bridge, Catawba, NC

I'm modeling the eastern part of the Southern's S-Line, from Spencer/Salisbury to Morganton. This includes the crossing of the Catawba River.
Does anyone know where I might find plans of the bridge in Catawba, NC? Not the trestle that was destroyed in the 1916 flood, but the four truss span that was built after that and is still in use today. My layout is set in 1974. There are also eight 60' deck plate girder approach spans on the east end. I've got a bunch or pictures that I took in 2012 from the west end of the bridge and in 2014 when my brother took me up there in his boat, but some dimensions to go with them would be nice. :) Another related question: when did the Southern start using the white posts at the ends of their bridges? They're made from aluminum Tee sections, rounded off on the top. Thanks, Tim Rumph Lancaster, SC |

Hey Tim- to be honest, I don't know of any plans for the bridge, and I have often wondered about the white posts as well. I can tell you that the posts are pre-1930 for sure.
